The Art of Lindy L Grant

In 2000, accomplished artist Lindy L Grant suffered a massive stroke that paralyzed her right arm as well as severely hindering her ability to use language (aphasia). In order to continue with her art, she had to learn how to paint with her left hand. For this series, Lindy re-intreprets some of her pre-stroke work with the intention to apply a new viewpoint and post-stroke style to old works. About Lindy

Lindy Lange Grant has shown in one woman and group exhibitions in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Rosa, London, and Scotland. She works from her imagination and daily experience, portraying many a colorful characters from dancers and jugglers, to the Blind Detective series and his faithful companion.

Brushes and colors, rather than words, have been her communication tools since childhood because they are intrinsic to her personality. And this is truer now more than ever.

After a strenuous rehabilitation, Lindy picked up her brush again; this time with her left hand. The results have been astounding. Watching her style adapt, evolve and re-invent is inspiring.
